Cheap ceiling fans 2 For 1 Special: The way to Make Beaded Zipper Pulls & Beaded Fan Pulls

Beaded Zipper Pulls

This project is super easy and super cheap to generate. Beaded zipper pulls add just a little color and that exclusive touch to any zipper: coats/jackets, backpacks, laptop computer bags, purses, etc.

Materials List:

  • 18-gauge wire ($2 at craft stores)
  • 4 - 8 medium glass beads ($.50 - $1 at craft stores or ebay)
  • Small key chain clasp ($2 for a pack of 4 at craft stores or home improvement stores in the key section) or small lobster claw clasp ($2 at craft stores in packs of 4)

Tools Needed:

  • Wire cutter
  • Pliers
  • Wire curling tool

Instructions:

  • Cut 18-gauge wire into a 12" piece.
  • Find the center of the wire and using a wire curling tool, wrap the wire around the barrel of the curling tool twice, making sure the two remaining lengths on either side are the same.
  • Work the wire circles into the key chain clasp or lobster claw clasp.
  • Twist the two lengths together tightly all the way to the end, making one even length of wire.
  • Feed beads onto the twisted wire, leaving enough room at the end to curl the ends.
  • Using pliers, curl the end several times tightly so that the beads stay in place.

Approximate completion time: 15 - 20 minutes.

Beaded Fan Pulls

Materials List:

  • 24-gauge wire (at craft stores)
  • Ball fan chain with clasp (at craft stores or home improvement stores in the lighting/ceiling fan section). Ball chain comes in various lengths. Pick the length you want.
  • 6 - 12 medium and large glass beads (larger beads are needed so that the wire can fit through the holes - at craft stores or ebay). Choose colors and designs of beads that match the colors in the room where the fan pull will be hanging.
  • 1 large metal crimping bead
  • 1 small glass bead or charm (optional)

Tools Needed:

  • Wire cutters
  • Flat-nose pliers
  • Wire curling tool

Instructions:

  • Cut 24-gauge wire into a piece 9" - 12" long.
  • Put a large crimping bead on the wire, leaving approximately 1/4" at the end. Use flat nose pliers to squeeze crimping bead onto wire so that it doesn't move. Curl the remaining 1/4" into a tight ball.
  • Fit one end of the ball chain clasp over the wire with the crimping bead inside the clasp and pinch shut. The crimping bead will hold the wire in place inside the clasp. Fit the ball chain into the other end of the clasp and pinch shut.
  • Fit beads in preferred pattern along 24-gauge wire up to the end where the wire meets the ball chain clasp, leaving 1" at the opposite end.
  • There are two ways to curl off the remaining 1" end of the wire:
  1. Use wire curling tool to curl the end of the wire into several tight curls so the beads stay in place, or
  2. Place a small bead or charm on the end and curl the wire around the bead or charm clasp.

Approximate Completion Time: 20 minutes
